Against the war, the state, capitalism, fascism & imperialism

Who brings the people back to the slaughterhouse of war with mathematical precision, from where the countries and people, who were not lucky enough to be born in the so-called ‘developed’ West, never escaped? Is it Putin and his ‘oriental authoritarianism’, the warmongering US hawks, or the European Union’s neoliberal hardliners? The answer is simple: ALL of them∙ because what gives birth to wars, conflicts, injustices, death and the unspeakable tragedies of humanity is the globalized capitalist system. In peacetime it subjugates, exploits and squeezes workers in all lengths and widths of the earth, oppresses and abuses the weakest and accumulates untold riches for the global oligarchs – alike everywhere: in the United States, in the E.U., in Russia and in China.

This savage attack that societies are currently experiencing, in conditions of the deep and comprehensive systemic crisis and the de-legalization of the political system worldwide, is escalating and exposing both the incurable contradictions of the state-capitalist model of organization, and its absolute inability to produce any coherent social vision, perspective or hope. The roots of this ever-increasing aggression lie in the very nature of the oppressive and exploitative system. The need for deepening and expanding authority and power is oriented towards controlling all human activity, in order to fully subordinate society to the dictates of the state and bosses. The state-capitalist system has been built on the basis of the absurdity of social and class oppression, which seeks to perpetuate itself by any means possible and therefore perpetuating its destructive effects on society and nature. Its disintegration -so visible today- is not the result of the multifaceted crisis. On the contrary, the multi-faceted crisis is the result of the deep disintegration and bankruptcy of the system at social, political and ethical levels. It is precisely this decay and total bankruptcy of the world, of the state and capitalism that constitutes the limit of its global integration and, at the same time, the cause of the intensification of intra-imperialist conflicts and the consequent increase of the threat of war. The state capitalist system continues to bring its own contradictions within itself, the competition between the bourgeois cadres for their better positioning on the board for the looting and pillaging and then the sharing of the valuable -yet limited- natural resources, for the expansion of their “sphere of influence” is what makes the sirens of war sound again and again. Because, as long as societies are bound by the so-called ‘national interest’, the private profit and the capitalist accumulation, war will be the one-way street of the empires in conflict. This capitalist determinism, however, does not in any way mean that the system of oppression is heading towards its own elimination, due to its own impasses and contradictions. If the peoples do not take their fate in their own hands, then the overall living conditions will become even worse, with war being the main threat, but also with further impoverishment and misery.

We observe that while globalized capitalism unifies fields through the colonization of space by the power relations it carries, at the same time, the nationalist narrative in each nation-state is well preserved and protected, either as a supposedly necessary condition of defense against visible and invisible threats, or clearly as an ideological preparation of the common people for their participation in the war machine of the rulers. Everywhere the same old stories: In Ukraine, once again we watch the well-known Western scoundrels exploit social protest, they deflect it into a manipulable political event, they finance the extreme right that has developed in a context of rising anti-Russian nationalism, managing to impose on the political field a Western liberal government, which while at power, legalizes the neo-Nazis as a vanguard for the dirty business: dozens of unarmed people are being killed in Odessa…

On the other hand, the Russians exploit the suspicion of the Russian-speaking people in the region, they militarily support their split-off attempts and finally, under the known pretext of supporting minorities and “living space”, they invade the whole country from side to side to achieve a new reversal in the political field and bring Ukraine back into their sphere of influence. Civilians are bombed, people are killed, infrastructure and lives are destroyed… Choosing a side is like putting a gun to one’s head. For the poor, the worker, for someone who has absolutely no interest in choosing sides -if they do so- it equals to an unlimited tragedy, not only because this will lead through a faster step in the havoc of war destruction, but because it means that they do not understand the enormous importance of doing everything in their power to stop this and every war. As it has been shown in Ukraine, peace does not lie in the voluntary embrace with one or the other imperialist pole, nor in making whole countries into protectorates. Peace does not lie in nationalism, military armaments, battalions and armored brigades. Today, when the weapons systems of the dominants can inflict huge losses on the people from below, now more than ever the old famous cry of internationalism is once again relevant: PROLETARIANS OF THE WORLD, UNITE!

Let us not become meat for the bombshells of the bosses, let us fight militarism, let us block war here and everywhere on the planet. Greece is a member of NATO and the EU and is deeply attached to the Euro-Atlantic tank, responsible for so many criminal interventions over the last and not only years. Also, the renewal of the Greek-US defense cooperation with the upgrading of the NATO base of Souda and its role in the wider region, the transfer of “special” weapons to the Araxos air base and the extension of existing military bases to a number of regions of the country, including Larissa, Stefanovicio and the helicopter base in Alexandroupolis, are other examples of the validation and expansion of the relations of the Greek and the American state, the affirmation of the attachment of the domestic bourgeoisie to the chariot of the dominant international, political-economic elite and the strengthening of the role of the Greek state in the Balkan and Eastern Mediterranean regions. The footstool of the Western Coalition which bears the title of Prime Minister of the country, without of course asking anyone, has already begun military material missions, by sending C-130 combat aircraft. His cretinism might be written in indelible letters in the history of the country. It is our duty to fight against the official involvement of the country in the war. However, this position is by no means the hypocritical pretext for the indirect support of any authoritarian camp; in the same faith in the principles of proletarian internationalism that we call for anti-war mobilization here against all military coalitions, with the same intensity we support anti-war rallies in Russia and anywhere people understand that the field of war is actually the slaughterhouse of the weak. We may struggle on this piece of land, but the enemy is everywhere. It’s global capitalism in all its forms.

But everywhere too there are anarchists and people who want to fight against the war state and capitalist machine. The anarchists in their long history never ceased fighting against the rulers whatever facade they wore to satisfy their particular interests: the interests of bosses. Whether English imperialism, American “anti-terrorist war” or Soviet “socialist and anti-imperialist” intervention, anarchists struck the alarm against war and militarism, trying to cover the sirens of impending bombings, impending barbarity. That is what we are going to do today! Because either we will stop the war or we will have to suffer its terrible consequences. Consequences that will have a direct impact on the lives of the poor and the weak, whether they concern the cost of life or life itself, the value of which is beginning to be trivialized on European, as it is trivialized by the global bosses in the capitalist region and the bodies of refugees and immigrants who are uprooted. It is the duty of the revolutionaries to support the growth of a strong and truly horizontal anti-war movement that will fight for the right of the oppressed, of the people from below, as opposed to the hypocritical calls of the liberals who are trying to exploit humanity to fuel it for their new war plans. Against the dystopia of Modern Totalitarianism, where the vast majority is impoverished & subordinated, we should object the libertarian society that is organized through the federal, social councils. We should solely trust the ones holding up the flag of proletarian internationalism – and no other than that!
